Modern borders define and divide nations, cultures and traditions. Both modern research and history evidence people and goods have always transcended boundaries. Ideas and commodities have never been exclusive to a single region or nation, but have generally been objects of exchange, competition, and rivalry.Proposed research encourages analysis of fixed political boundaries and encourages scholars to reconsider borders as works in progress and Asia as a region in motion.

Consider a wide range of ideas regarding the overall theme, "Beyond Borders and Boundaries" and how it enhances our understanding of Southeast-Asia and how the region has shaped the past and is currently reshaping the world.

Submissions should be made and presented in English, as it is the working language of the conference. We welcome papers and panel proposals as well.  Paper proposals should be submitted in Word format and contain the title, name and author(s)’affiliation, contact information (address, telephone, and email) and an abstract of no more than 500 words. Papers with more than one author should identify which author(s) will be presenting.
