The 2017 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Polyamines will feature cutting edge studies on the regulation and roles of polyamines in cellular homeostasis and disease. The Polyamine GRC is the preeminent meeting in this field and will cover a wide range of topics in basic, translational and clinical research. The Polyamine Gordon conference will be held at the Waterville Valley Resort in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire from June 25-30, 2017. A major focus of the 2017 Polyamine GRC is targeting polyamine pathways in cancer and in other pathogenic and infectious diseases. The meeting will also emphasize several new areas of basic polyamine research including provocative findings relating polyamines to circadian clock control, inflammation, pathogenic virulence, and novel polyamine-targeted therapies. New insights into the mechanisms by which normal polyamine metabolism contributes to cell growth control and autophagy and how these regulatory circuits are disabled or hijacked in other pathological states (e.g., in cancers, infection with parasites or bacteria, and neurodegenerative disorders) will be discussed. This GRC is attended by biologists, chemists, structural biologists and clinicians, and investigators from academia, biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. The variety of scientific disciplines and organisms represented at the Polyamine GRC is unique among GRCs and creates an intellectually stimulating environment. The highly collegial and collaborative atmosphere of this Conference, with programmed discussion sessions and ample opportunities for informal gatherings in the afternoons and evenings, provides the perfect environment for scientists to discuss and share ideas and to foster collaborations in the research areas represented. The Polyamine GRC will be held in conjunction with the sixth Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Polyamines. The GRS will be held from June 24-25, and students and postdocs participating in the GRS will be expected to also attend the regular GRC meeting, which immediately follows.
