The globalization of China and Chinese initiative of “One Belt, One Road” have brought new challenges and opportunities for Southeast Asian countries. Likewise, the accelerated regional and global integration of countries in Southeast Asia has had profound implications for the growth and restructuring of the economy in China, particularly the region of the Pearl River Delta. Until recently, studies of the transition of the regional economies in Southeast Asia and South China have been done separately by different researchers without effective dialogue and exchanges. Against this backdrop, this forum is organized to create a platform for both local Chinese and foreign researchers who are interested in the issues of urban and regional development in Southeast Asia to carry out cooperative research and scholarly exchanges.
