The 2015 Gordon Conference on Mechanisms of Membrane Transport will follow a 50-year tradition by presenting cutting-edge research on structural, functional and dynamic aspects of transport mechanisms by primary and secondary active transporters and channels. The program will build on recent successes in structural biology and bring together leading scientists with diverse perspectives, in order to integrate those structural insights with findings from computational biology, spectroscopy, cell biology and biochemistry. Novel techniques and strategies for elucidating the mechanisms and energetics of transporters will be highlighted. This Conference has always placed a strong emphasis on the interaction of trainee scientists with more senior members of the field, and in that spirit, ample time will be made for discussion in the daily poster sessions. In addition, a number of poster presenters will be invited to present a poster talk, to allow them to disseminate their work to a wider audience. This year, we are excited to announce the first Mechanisms of Membrane Transport Gordon Research Seminar, which will immediately precede the Conference, and will provide trainee scientists with unique opportunities for interaction and mentoring. We strongly encourage Conference applications by both junior and senior scientists from overseas, by minorities, and those with disabilities, and we are applying for funds to support some costs of those with financial constraints.
