Welcome to the 8th International Symposium on Measurement Techniques for Multiphase Flows (ISMTMF’2013). This year’s event is ceremoniously held inGuangzhou, P.R. China. Not only is it an international harbor and economic center inGuangdongProvince, but it is also well-known for its profound historical and cultural heritage. First of all, on behalf of my colleagues, I would like to warmly welcome all the experts and scholars from home and abroad! And please accept our highest respect to all the relevant organizations, academic institutions and individuals supporting this symposium. This is the 8th events, following the successful ISMTMF events held previously in Nanjing, Beijing, Fukui, Hangzhou, Macao, Okinawa andTianjin. This event series have allowed scientists and engineers in universities, industries and other fields from all over the world to share and exchange the measurement techniques for multiphase flows. This year’s technical program includes 81 papers from more than 6 different countries. Four parallel technical sessions will begin after six excellent keynote speeches which will be given by six honorable keynote speakers. Many thanks go to the dedicated reviewers who did an excellent job to preserve quality and promote academic excellence. We would like to thank and highlight the outstanding efforts of the Local Committee Chair. Many people have devoted their time and energy to promote the event, solicit and review the submissions, shape the technical program, organize the exhibitions, compile conference proceedings, arrange the logistics, organize the social functions, and serve ISMTMF’2013 as volunteers.
