As the role of computers in decision-making expands in business, education, health care, law, and government, big data and analytics community needs to pay specific attention to context. Studying, representing, incorporating, exploiting and explaining context in analytics has the potential to provide significant value and address major challenges.The 1st Workshop on Context in Analytics (CiA) encourages participation from a broad spectrum of communities to explore the role of context in big data and analytics, as we collectively try to address questions such as: What is the right model of context? What should context capture? What is the architecture of context services? How to address data integration when bringing in context from various systems? Can context provide value without violating privacy? What are the right user experience and interaction models for interaction with context? How should context be governed?
