Based on progress in the field and the increasing integration of genomics and patient-specific models, this Myelin GRC will be focused on human biology through various ages of development, while giving also a perspective on age-related myelin dysfunction leading to disease. The program of this conference will take a "life course" approach to the study of myelin. The emphasis will be on integrating basic science with human biology and mechanisms of myelin development with those of myelin pathology, in the central and peripheral nervous system. The Conference will bring together speakers in basic and clinical sciences, leaders and scientists who are new to the field, senior and junior investigators, with the intent to favor and promote innovative discussion that will extend the impact of myelin biology. The Conference will provide ample opportunities for junior scientists and graduate students to present their work in poster format. Every session will also feature 1-2 short talks from trainees selected from the abstracts. The Conference will include programmed discussion sessions, as well as opportunities for informal gatherings to brainstorm and share experiences, while fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations in the various research areas represented.
