The global transport industry, like many other sectors, is under constant pressure to improve quality of services while cutting costs. Increasingly transport providers are turning to Big Data techniques to give them a competitive edge in this fast-paced market, with applications ranging from customer analytics and journey management, through the continuous monitoring of asset condition, safety, operations, and management. Aims of the Workshop This one day workshop will bring together researchers and industry practitioners from the USA, Europe, and worldwide, to discuss the current state-of-the-art in the field, to identify existing technologies in other domains that could be leveraged by the transport industry, and to prioritize topics for research and development in the sector going forwards.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
Business analytics of transport data (e.g. planning of service provision)
Big Data in support of asset management (e.g. Remote Condition Monitoring of vehicles and infrastructure)
Traffic management and real-time transport operations (e.g. management of traffic flows)
The Internet of Transport Things (e.g. management and monitoring of freight in transit)
Improved services for customers (e.g. dynamic journey planning during disruptions, delivering the end-to-end journey across transport modes)
