Power electronics and electrical drives have played an increasingly important role in our societydue to the capabilities of processingand controllingelectrical energy in an elegant way with high efficiency and performance. Therefore, they can improve industrial productivity, energy efficiency, and environmental protection by means of robotics, factory automation, and alternative energy systems. Besides traditional industries, power electronics and electrical drives have deeply penetrated the sustainable and renewable energy areas in the last decade. In power electronics and electrical drives, the controllers andobservers have always been key issues since they influence drastically the overall system performances and may work in some special environments.
Since power electronics and electrical drives are highly non-linear and submitted to perturbations, some crucial requirements are needed for the controllers and observers in the applications of the power electronics and electrical drives, such as strong robustness, fast response speed, and high tracking precision.
Therefore, it is meaningful and challenging to develop novel theories, techniques and tools to design the advanced controllers and observers for the power electronics and electrical drives. This Special Session aims to provide a research venue for exchanging and discussing the technical trends and challenges of control and observation in power electronics and electrical drives. Both theory-and application-driven studies are invited for participation.
Topics of the Session:
Control of stepper, AC, DC, and servo motors
Control of electric vehicles
Control of energysystems
Wind energy conversion systems
