The 2018 Asia Pacific Economic and Business History Conference will be held by the University of Tasmania in Hobart from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th February 2018.
The conference under the topic of History from Below: Ordinary lives in historical and comparative perspective will bring together researchers in Business, Economic and Social History and feature new and exciting research from a variety of perspectives covering historical developments in Australia, Asia as well as other regions of the world.
The conference is hosted by the School of History at the University of Tasmania. Founded in 1890 it is one of Australia’s oldest universities and has played an influential role not only in the lives of 90,000 alumni but all Tasmanians and beyond. With campuses all over the island its main center is in Hobart, the historic state capital. Tasmania’s administrative, economic and cultural center is a friendly, vibrant and always changing city experiencing currently a boom in arts, while enjoying life with its established food, wine and coffee culture.
The local organizing committee consists of Hamish Maxwell-Stewart and Philippa Mein-Smith.
