The Asian Pacific Phycological Forum (APPF) is held every three years in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of the Asian Pacific Phycological Association (APPA). The APPF has been successfully held in seven countries: Australia (1996), Hong Kong, China (1999), Japan (2002), Bangkok, Thailand (2005), New Zealand (2008), Korea (2011) and China (2014). The Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences, University of Malaya has the honour of hosting the 8th APPF with the theme: Algae: New perspectives towards a progressive and sustainable living.
The APPF is one of the most influential phycological forums in the Asian-Pacific region, and forms a vital part of the APPA's activities. The Forum aims to facilitate the exchange of current research ideas, and to enable scientists, technologists and industry players to gather information on the latest development in phycology. It also provides the platform for researchers to present their latest findings. There will be opportunities for networking, not only amongst phycologists but also with the industry.
On behalf of the local organising committee, we would like to warmly invite you to attend the 8th APPF and look forward to your submission of abstract.
The forum include scientific sessions that will deliberate on the following broad issues:
Algal Systematics, Phylogenetics and Diversity
Algal Culture Collections
Algae and Environmental Pollution
Algae and Climate Change
Harmful Algae Blooms
Bioremediation and Biorefineries
Algae for Biofuels
