The Emerging Security Technologies (EST) Conference is a leading Euro-Asia technology forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of new ideas and concepts in emerging technologies that span applications from personal biometrics to national security. The EST conference has proven to be a venue for bringing to light cutting edge research and innovations in the field of security and computing. Particular focus on research dissemination and enabling interaction between researchers makes the EST conference technically valuable and an unmissable event for both the academia and the industry.
Previous EST Conferences were organized in Canterbury, UK, in 2010 and Preston, UK, in 2011. The 2012 EST was held in Lisbon, Portugal. The 2013 and 2014 EST conferences were held in Cambridge, UK, and Alcalá de Henares, Spain. The last EST conference was held in Braunschweig, Germany in 2015. This year the conference is being held at the University of Kent and takes place in the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury, UK. The conference is sponsored by University of Kent, University of Essex and IEEE. The IEEE United Kingdom and Ireland Section Computer Society is a technical sponsor for the event. University of Central Lancashire is also supporting the conference.
The conference invites security-oriented contributions in information technologies, robotics, cognitive systems, biotechnologies, and nanotechnologies. Novel concepts related to hardware and software implementations are equally welcomed. Previous editions included papers in biometrics and forensics, personal mobile/ wireless security, robotic and unmanned vehicle system security, perimeter, border, and homeland security, internet and cyber-security (detection and prevention of cyber-crimes and identity theft), security of critical infrastructure systems, security of emergency response systems and hybrid security systems. Papers on the security of emerging fields like the internet of things, pervasive computing and body wearable health devices can also be submitted.
Papers may present advances in the theory, design, implementation, analysis, verification, or empirical evaluation and measurement of secure systems. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Access control and authorisation
- Intrusion detection and prevention
- Accountability
- Malware and unwanted software
- Anonymity
- Mobile and web security and privacy
- Application security
- Network and systems security
- Attacks and defences
- Privacy technologies and mechanisms
- Authentication
- Simulation of security protocols
- Cloud security
- Security and privacy for the Internet of Things
- Distributed systems security
- Security and privacy metrics
- Embedded systems security
- Security and privacy policies
- Forensics
- Security architectures
- Hardware security
- Usable security and privacy
