With the environmental degradation, how to build the ecological sponge city has become an important problem which needs to be solved urgently. This paper established the input-output based life cycle assessment model. By taking one rain garden as an example, the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions as well as the distribution of it in the production chain are calculated. The results indicate that the input-output based life cycle assessment model can comprehensively evaluate the impacts of sponge city construction on greenhouse gas emissions, which has a certain reference value for designing supportive policies of sponge city.
