In view of the time synchronization problem of wireless sensor network (WSN), the paper presented a WSN time synchronization algorithm with self-calibration based on piecewise fitting, the algorithm uses synchronous communication and self-calibration combined mechanism, the synchronization process of node uses improved DMTS algorithm to carry out through communication opportunities of sleeping-awaking, and when the node missed the synchronization communication opportunity, it firstly uses linear extrapolation to eliminate abnormal data in time parameters of WSN node, then uses piecewise fitting method to realize self-calibration of node time. Experimental researches show the average synchronization precision of the algorithm can reach at 26.35 us, when the algorithm uses 4 times the synchronization period interval, namely the node misses 3 synchronous opportunities, and it can still keep high synchronization precision. Therefore, the algorithm can greatly reduce the frequency of time synchronization between nodes, and reduce energy and communication overhead of sensor nodes effectively.
