In recent years, the rapid advancement of AI-related technologies has significantly promoted the maturation of image semantic communication technology. This innovative approach enables efficient recognition and transmission of equipment and personnel states in industrial environments, thereby providing robust technical support for on-site maintenance and operations. This paper briefly introduces the fundamental principles of image semantic communication technology, envisions its broad application prospects in industrial field maintenance and operation, and proposes a representative application model based on the latest technological advancements. Furthermore, it conducts an in-depth analysis of the key challenges encountered in practical deployments and offers corresponding solutions and recommendations. The aim of this study is to provide actionable insights for both engineering practitioners and academic researchers in the field of industrial maintenance, foster the interdisciplinary development of image semantic communication and maintenance technologies, and ultimately accelerate the transformation of industrial maintenance toward digitalization and intelligence.
