One of the major tasks in multiphase flow detection is flow velocity estimation. The cross-correlation flow velocity detection technology applied in electrical resistance tomography (ERT) has matured. Compared with ERT, the same technology applied in magnetic induction tomography (MIT) is still to be developed. This paper describes an investigation of optimization of differential coil location in homogeneous saline pipeline. Based on the fixed optimized coil distance, a model of a ball falling by gravity is applied to verify the feasibility of MIT cross-correlation flow velocity measurement.
