The United Nations Ocean Decade for Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) stands as a paramount global initiative of this century centered on the oceans. There are many pathways for engaging Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) to engage in ocean science activities within the framework of the United Nations Ocean Decade. This talk delves into how ECOPs can contribute to and participate in advancing ocean science during this crucial period. By examining the role of ECOPs within the broader context of the Ocean Decade, this study aims to shed light on the strategies and mechanisms through which these centers can effectively collaborate, share knowledge, and drive progress in ocean research and sustainable development initiatives. In particular, scientists from the Second Institute of Oceanography China and global ocean professionals revolved around the blueprint of the China-Africa Center for Ocean Science and Blue Economy Cooperation within the Ocean Decade framework. Leading projects focused on mitigating marine environmental risks and enhancing ecosystem health, participants worked towards reshaping dialogue and exchanges in ocean science and technology. Efforts were made to foster collaborative research and development of marine ecological and environmental forecasting systems among participating nations. These endeavors aimed to bolster disaster risk reduction capabilities, support sustainable ocean development, and facilitate international cooperation, ultimately providing scientific pathways to safeguard the long-term health and sustainability of coastal ecosystems.
