The responses of coastal ocean systems to climate change is a global concern. Under this background, this project aims to investigate the influence of winter storm variation on fine-grained sediment cross-shelf transport together with the multiple time scale sedimentary environment effect. Therefore, the western north Yellow Sea is selected as study area, and from the perspective of multi-time scales and multi-interface processes, systematic studies are carried out on the interrelationship among climate change, winter storm, cross front transport, and sedimentary environmental effects in the following aspects. Firstly, based on modern processes, the mechanism of cross-front sediment transport and regional material distribution pattern driven by winter storms are analyzed. Secondly, through big data analysis and sedimentary record interpretation, the response of cross-front sediment transport intensity to climate change were reconstructed. Lastly, on the basis of understanding of the multi-time scale depositional environment effects responding to the change of cross front transport intensity, and combined with the prediction results of future climate change models, the possible changes of cross front material flux and regional distribution pattern in the future are discussed.
