In the operation process of the super large wind power- photovoltaic power- thermal power integrated energy base project, the voltage fluctuation of the new energy station will cause the circuit breaker of the key hub substation of the transmission system to withstand more complex voltage fluctuations during the process of switching. In order to reduce the failure rate of high voltage circuit breakers, it is necessary to collect the failure process, the failure reason, and the structure for the equipment and components. The intermediate circuit breakers usually bear the voltage of both-side leading units in breaker-and-half electrical connection scheme. Especially the generator sets send the power by the breaker-and-half, and the grading capacitor should be withstood multiple voltage shocks when the generator is closing or splitting loop. The analysis describes the failure engineering analysis in a real case study, which grading capacitor of intermediate circuit breaker occurs the ground discharge. This article put more attention to the grading capacitor that could be disassembled to find the failure reasons, moreover it is important to disassemble grading capacitor and analyses the grading capacitor status. According to the evaluate of the grading capacitor, the paper finds that the reliability of circuit breaker should be decided by the grading capacitor of circuit breaker.
