This document presents the results of the software implementation of two computational tools in the Python programming language, which allow solving the short-term operational planning problem of electrical power systems (EPS) based on metaheuristic optimization techniques of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Genetic Algorithms (GA). These computational tools are tested by implementing the 39-bus IEEE test system, resulting in hourly power dispatches of generating units and the generation cost associated with the electrical power system.
