In view of the complexity and diversity of fault mechanism of the on-load tap changer (OLTC), this paper presents a condition assessment method of the OLTC based on the combined weighting through game theory and cloud model with the construction of index system of condition assessment of the OLTC. The G1 assigning weight method and entropy method are applied to calculate the subjective weight and objective weight respectively. To better illustrate the uncertainty of the condition information of the OLTC, the normal cloud models for the level of operation condition and evaluation index of the OLTC are constructed based on the theory of cloud model. With the calculation of cloud membership, the final assessment results for the OLTC are obtained when considered the combined weighting. The operation information of a certain OLTC is taken as the analysis object. The validity of the proposed method is verified by an example. The results could provide an important reference for the condition assessment of the OLTC.
