Soil seasonal variations can affect the lightning transient ground potential rise (GPR) and transient ground potential difference (GPD) of the grounding system of high-speed railway control room, and then influence the reliable operation of electronic equipment in the control room. In this paper, the GPR and GPD maximum of the control room grounding system under two seasonal soil models are calculated by method of moment numerical simulation. The results show that the GPR and GPD maximum of the control room grounding system vary significantly with seasonal soil thickness. In order to improve the lightning transient safety performance, the control room grounding system shall be buried below the maximum seasonal soil layer thickness or the maximum depth reached by the vertical grounding electrode shall exceed the maximum seasonal soil layer thickness in the area.
