In order to study the influence of different modification processes on the internal material aggregation of SBS modified asphalt, the essential reasons for the influence of different modification processes on the thermodynamic properties of SBS modified asphalt were explored. Firstly, four typical SBS modified asphalts were prepared. Secondly, the macro-physical and mechanical properties of the four typical SBS modified asphalts were tested. Finally, the thermodynamic response of the modified asphalts was tested based on DSC, and the results were compared with the macro-physical and mechanical properties of the four typical SBS modified asphalts. The results show that: 1) with the change of modification process, the macro physical and mechanical properties of modified asphalt have no obvious regularity, which indicates that the above indexes are insensitive to the change of modified asphalts performances; 2) DSC is used to test the thermodynamic response of SBS modified asphalt, according to the shape, trend and the location and size of peak value of DSC curve, the evolution of aggregation state of SBS modified asphalt with the change of modification process can be effectively characterized; 3) the peak of DSC curve in the negative temperature range is caused by the relatively single component and simple structure material, which corresponds to the free matrix asphalt in modified asphalt. The rapid change of DSC curve indicates that the aggregated substances in modified asphalt increase rapidly;4) Enthalpy change, peak temperature of endothermic peak and width of endothermic peak were used to quantitatively analyze the change of aggregation state of SBS modified asphalt with modification process. The smaller the values of the three indicators, the less the composition of modified asphalt changes in state, and the temperature sensitivity of asphalt is not obvious and the more stable the macro physical properties of the asphalt.
