摘要
Abstract: Bike-sharing has developed rapidly in cities around the world, and has a significant impact on the urban traffic pattern and carbon emission from traffic. This study aims to quantitatively evaluate the environmental benefits of bike-sharing. Based on the survey data of Nanjing Institute of City & Transport Planning Co., Ltd. and the one-month order data of bike-sharing in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, this paper studied the emission reduction benefits and carbon emission during the life cycle of bike-sharing. Given that the modal shift from other travel modes to bike-sharing make a great contribution to the emission reduction, the emission reduction benefits of bike-sharing substituting for other travel modes was estimated. On the other hand, based on the Life Cycle Assessment, the carbon emission of bike-sharing production, scheduling, maintenance and recovery in the whole life cycle was studied. The author found that scheduling with trucks is an important part of carbon emission in the process of bike-sharing operation, and quantitatively evaluated the carbon emission in the scheduling process. Based on emission reduction benefits from replacing other travel modes and carbon emission during the life cycle, conditions for bike-sharing to achieve the goal of reducing urban traffic carbon emission are studied. The results show that, in order to offset carbon emission during the life cycle, bike-sharing using time and times need to reach certain numbers. This paper reflects the prominent role of data analysis in the field of transportation. The results are conducive to the operation and management of bike-sharing enterprises and scientific management of urban traffic.
