The departments of road transport safety management play an important role in risk management. The is little research on the risk management assessment about their own duties. Based on the analysis of the organizational structures and management process of risk management of transport enterprises, the risk management process of road transportation management is put forward. The indicator system and evaluation method are established through summarizing the existing qualitative or quantitative evaluation methods on the risk severity. The overall situation of risk management is analyzed through risk management evaluation, taking a northwest province in China as an example. The result shows that organization structure in the risk management system of road transport safety management is the most important indicator. The proposed method can provide the basis for the risk management assessment of the road transportation management department. It is of great significance to perfect the risk management system and establish the safety management guarantee system of road transport.
