摘要
The use of fibers in porous asphalt (PA) mixtures to enhance the performance properties of asphalt pavement have become an attractive technology in recent years. In this study, the combined effect of fiber reinforcement and aging conditions on the mechanical properties at low and intermediate temperatures of the asphalt mortar phase of porous asphalt is experimentally investigated. First, the German mix design PA 8 is selected as the reference material. Then, asphalt mortars without and with fibers are prepared under different aging conditions. Two different binder types and two commercially available fibers consisting of aramid and polyacrylonitrile are used for this purpose, respectively. Finally, mechanical tests are performed at low and intermediate temperatures followed by modeling and analyses. Results indicate that the use of fiber in the mix design has only limited influence on both fatigue and low temperature properties for asphalt mortar.
