摘要
Abstract: The rapid development of internet-based ride-hailing services, which injects new vitality into urban travel, as well as has a significant impact on the original mode of travel. Public transit as a cheap, environmentally friendly and popular transportation, which plays an extremely important role in urban travel. It is a topic of great concern for public transit agencies and urban traffic policymakers to better understand citizens’ attitudes to ride-hailing services and urban public transit use as well as the relationship between the two modes of travel. Based on the balance panel data of 109 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010-2016, empirical analysis of the effect of ride-hailing services on urban public transit by difference in differences method, the PSM-DID based on “quasi-natural experiment” is used for further verification. The empirical results show that:①The ride-haling services has a negative effect on urban public transit use;②the negative effect of ride-hailing services on urban public transit use is continuous, and the effect initially strengthens and then weakens;③the negative effect of ride-haling services on urban public transit use in megacities are stronger and more significant than that in megalopolis;④the negative effect of ride-haling services on urban public transit use in eastern cities than western cities are stronger.
