The Study of Partial Discharge Localization in Transformer Oil Based on Coupling Optical Fiber Ultrasonic Sensor

Due to the initial defects, partial discharge (PD) will occur in the transformer, which will further deteriorate the internal insulation of the transformer and even the breakdown of the insulation system. Therefore, it is of great significance to accurately locate the PD in the transformer. At present, The piezoelectric sensor is widely used in PD ultrasonic localization. However, coupling optical fiber ultrasonic sensor (COFUS) is a good alternative for its strong anti-electromagnetic interference ability, low material cost and small structure. In this paper, an experimental system based on COFUS is proposed, and the localization algorithm is determined. Finally, the experiments of acoustic-acoustic localization and electro-acoustic localization are carried out. The results show that the average geometric errors are 54.14 mm and 45.14 mm respectively. That is, the localization results have high localization accuracy. Therefore, the COFUS has a broad application prospect in PD localization of transformer.
