Inoculated Phanerochaete chrysosporium enhanced the relative abundance of Talaromyces and Coprinopsis to promote humification process during the cooling period of maize straw and canola residue composting

The aim of this study was to identify the effects of exogenous inoculation of P.chrysosporium on the fungal community structure succession and humification process during the cooling period of maize straw and canola residue composting. Results showed that inoculation P. chrysosporium in the cooling period of compost further reduced the diversity of fungal community. The results of fungal community abundance analysis showed that in the humification stage (18-36 days), maize straw + canola residue (T1) treatment was dominated by the genera Coprinopsis and Talaromyces; Compared with T1 treatment, T2 treatment (inoculationof P. chrysosporium on day 18) significantly increased the abundance of Phanerochaete. At the end of composting, compared with that in T1 (no inoculation), the relative abundance of Talaromyces and Coprinopsis increased by 1223.63% and 30.17%, respectively. Structural equation model (SEM) analysis showed that exogenous inoculation of P. chrysosporium during the cooling period of composting promoted the formation of HS in the humification process. The Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) results showed that the known genera Coprinopsis, Talaromyces and Phanerochaete were the key genera that promoted the degradation of lignocellulose and the formation of humus. This study confirmed that P. chrysosporium inoculation during the cooling period of composting promoted the relative abundance of Talaromyces and Coprinopsis and enhanced the humification process of compost.
