This study aimed to determine three kinds of
benzenedioles adsorption capacities of activated carbon obtained from walnut peel. The Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models were used to determine adsorption equilibrium and the pseudo-first and second-order kinetic studies were performed for determining the capture speed of the adsorbents. The activated carbon from walnut peel which were prepared at the optimum condition (50% zinc chloride, 500℃,1h, 60 mesh)in Muffle furnace. The surface morphology and the pore size were disclosed with SEM and automated surface area and pore size analyzer (ASAP). Parameters such as initial concentration, contact time and pH were discussed deeply. The obtained carbon derived from walnut peel have a more good removal performance for
hydroquinone and the removal rate was 97.11%, the removal rate of zinc chloride activated carbon for
pyrocatechol and
resorcinol was found to be 88.63% and 84.98%,The adsorption data of the zinc chloride activated carbon were fitted to the Freundlich isotherms model and the Lagergen pseudo-second-order-dynamics model .
