Sodium/potassium-ion batteries (SIBs/PIBs) arouse intensive interest on account of the natural abundance of sodium/potassium resources, the competitive cost and appropriate redox potential. Herein, we have successfully fabricated the MoSe2/NP-C-2 composite as a desirable anode material by a facile method employing chlorella as precursor and adsorbent. It possesses uniformly ultra-small few-layer nanostructured MoSe2 embedded on N, P co-doped bio-carbon. These intriguing features synergistically make the MoSe2/NP-C-2 electrode delivers a superior specific capacity and remarkable high rate performance for SIBs (Fig. 1a-c). In addition, full SIBs made by pairing the MoSe2/NP-C-2 composite anode with a Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode exhibits an admirable capacity (Fig. 1d-e). Furthermore, this composite also delivers a decent reversible capacity and rate performance for PIBs
