As a kind of backup protection, distance protection is widely applied to protect lines of different voltagelevels.In order to ensure the direction, positive sequence voltage is used as the polarization voltage for distance protection, however there are some defects existed under certain special condition withpositive sequence voltage as polarization voltage.This paper analyzes a mal-operation case of distance protection for a reverse fault, introduces the disadvantages based on the use of positive sequence polarization voltage, and proposed the corresponding solution, RTDS experiment results validate the correctness of the scheme.
