Since 2000, as a renewable and clean energy source biomass forming fuel has developed rapidly in China. By 2015, China had produced 6 million tons of biomass forming fuel annually, accounting for about 20.0% of the global production, and the industrialization development gradually amounted to a mature stage. Compared with the fully development of wood biomass forming fuel in developed countries such as Europe and America, China has limited forest resources, but abound in agricultural residues such as agricultural straw, which is used as the main material for biomass forming fuel. Chinese standard system of biomass forming fuel had some achievements, but it is far from perfect. The quality standard of Chinese biomass forming fuel urgently needs to be developed and improved. Furthermore, a certification system suiting Chinese national conditions needs to be established. This paper mainly focuses on summarizing and analyzing the standard system of biomass forming fuel in China. Through comparing the classification standard of biomass forming fuel in China with that in the European Union or American, classification and analyzing methods of biomass forming fuel quality suitable for China's national conditions are discussed. Moreover, the current development of the international certification system is reviewed, focusing on the comparison of ENplus, DINplus and American PFI standard scheme. Through the comparison, the construction of Chinese certification system of biomass forming fuel are proposed based on Chinese national conditions.
