The components of biodiesel have an important influence on its lubricating properties. Using gas chromatography, high frequency reciprocating friction, and wear testing to measure the fatty acid methyl ester composition and calibrate the abrasive spot diameter of 14 kinds of biodiesel. The relationship between the abrasive spot diameter and the chemical composition of the biodiesel was quantified The results showed that the main components of 14 kinds of biodiesel were methyl stearate, methyl palmitate, methyl oleate, and methyl linoleate. The average content of the four components was 92.18%. Among 14 kinds of biodiesel samples,RME(rapeseed methyl ester )has the smallest abrasive spot diameter, which is 169.71μm. prickly ash methyl ester (PAME) has the largest abrasive spot diameter, which is 187.35 μm.The addition of biodiesel can improve the lubrication performance of diesel oil. The C=C bonds makes it easier for the fatty acid ester to form a dense adsorption film on the metal surface and increase the strength of the lubricant film. A linear prediction model of biodiesel wear scar diameter was established (R=0.91).
