中国艺术类大学生英语认知学习风格偏好研究

英语教学成为现今教育的重要组成部分以来,国内对于英语学习者的研究层出不穷,其中学习者的学习风格始终是一个主要的研究课题,它对学生成绩和教学效果均有很大的影响。
鉴于目前国内对艺术类学生的英语学习风格研究还为之甚少,本研究使用定性研究方法研究了艺术类本科生英语认知学习风格偏爱,并在此基础上对艺术类英语教师的教学方法提出了可行性的建议,为提高艺术类学生英语水平提供了依据。
来自山东艺术学院的850名学生参加了此项研究,数据来源为调查问卷,数据分析主要为描述性分析。研究结果显示,艺术类学生主要学习风格依次为听觉学习、触觉学习、动觉学习、小组学习和视觉学习,次要学习风格为个体学习。本研究与国内关于英语认知学习风格的研究结果皆不相同。因此,艺术类英语教师在教学过程中应引导学生多读多看多记笔记,同时也应重视教学课件的质量。另外,研究中发现,艺术类学生缺少小组学习和动觉学习的机会,以及个体学习的动力,教师应在教学中尝试为学生提供锻炼和实践的机会,培养学生的学习技能,从而促进学生英语能力的全面发展。
Since English teaching has been a significant part in education nowadays, many studies on EFL learners have been carried out. EFL learners’ learning style preference is a main subject, as it affects both learners’ achievement and teaching effect.
In China, little research can be found on EFL learners in art colleges, so the present paper studies the learning style preference of EFL learners in an art college in China with qualitative research method, gave advice to EFL teachers of art students, providing basis for improving art students’ English proficiency.
The study deals with 200 freshmen in Shandong College of Arts. The data of the study comes from a questionnaire, subsequently is analyzed by means of the descriptive method. Based on analysis of the data, this study finds that the maor learning styles are auditory learning style, visual learning style,the subordinate learning styles are tactile learning style, kinesthetic learning style, group learning style, and visual learning style. The minor learning style is individual learning style.
Therefore, English teachers for art students should lead students to read more and take notes in the class. At the same time, they should attach great importance to the courseware. In addition, it was found that art students lack of the opportunity for working in groups and Kinesthetic learning, as well as the motivation of self-study. Teachers should try to provide students with more exercises and practice, train their learning skills, so as to help them improve their English proficiency.
